Having reached this stage of the selection process, you need to ensure that you do yourself justice and preparation for your interview is the key to achieving success. Your interview is your chance to demonstrate to us that you have the right personality, qualifications, experience and relevant proven track record for the role.

Preparation

It is essential that you prepare yourself as much as possible for your interview to make sure that you make the most of your opportunity. Preparation not only increases your chance of being successful but it will also help build your confidence.

  • Be punctual – plan ahead and give yourself plenty of time to get to the interview.
  • Research the company – have a good understanding of the company and what we do. View our website for information.
  • Know your CV – make sure that you can clearly discuss your career history, describing your roles, responsibilities and key achievements with examples. Be clear and concise, don’t waffle.
  • Practice questions and answers – think of questions that you might be asked and practice your answers, but don’t fall into the trap of repeating your answers in a parrot fashion way. Also think of questions that you would like to ask in the interview – don’t forget, you’re interviewing Centrax too.

First Impressions

Remember – ‘You never get a second chance to make a first impression’. Don’t underestimate the importance of the first few minutes of meeting your interviewer.

  • Make sure you know the name and title of the person(s) interviewing you.
  • Dress to impress and dress appropriately, our general code is ‘smart casual’.
  • Try to convey confidence, start with a firm handshake, sit comfortably but do not slouch and remember to smile.
  • The smell of stale smoke can be very off putting, so if you do smoke try not to smoke just before the interview, however nervous you are.

Interview Approach

  • Ensure your manner is positive and you are bright and enthusiastic throughout.
  • Be natural and maintain good eye contact throughout the interview.
  • Look interested and listen actively.
  • If you are being interviewed by more than one person speak to all of them and do not focus on one person.
  • Listen to the question and if you need further clarification ask. It is far better to take your time to answer the question than to waffle or miss the point altogether.
  • Sell yourself; this is your opportunity to explain what you’ve achieved.
  • Keep your answers factual and concise and always back achievements up with good solid examples.
  • Don’t be negative about your current or previous employers. If you are asked why you want to leave your current role avoid the temptation to be critical and instead talk about the reasons why you want to join Centrax.
