Production Support Operative

Centrax are seeking a Production Support Operative to act as a member of the Turbine Repair team to assist and support day to day operations of the Turbine Repair Department as directed by supervision.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Disassembly, Cleaning and inspection of equipment and associated engine components using a variety of methods (grit blasting, ultrasonic, vapour blast etc steam cleaning) and machinery.
  • Assist engine technicians and fitters with day-to-day operations as directed.
  • Act as departmental stores point of contact for the department:
  • Issue and receive equipment and associated components (including documentation – both hard copy and electronic as required.)
  • Maintain stock levels of consumable materials as directed by supervision including management of expiry dates and reordering as required.
  • Update and control inventory levels.
  • Package items for transportation and storage
  • Assist with stock taking as and where required.
  • Assist with installation and removal of engines into the test cells.
  • Unload and load engines from transportation pods, vehicles, and trolleys.
  • Liaise with Centrax Warranty Administrator for engine components and assist with documentation as required
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance on equipment and plant, including all documentation requirements as directed by supervision.
  • Assist other departments with general duties and activities as required and directed by supervision and management
  • Carry out duties compatible with this job and the employees’ individual skills as required by management.

Knowledge & Skills

  • NVQ Level 2 Engineering (or equivalent) or 3 years related experience in a similar role such as maintenance assistant etc.
  • Experience / knowledge of working in a mechanically biased production or maintenance environment.
  • Any LOLER qualification (or equivalent).
  • IOSH Working Safely (or equivalent).
  • Forklift Operative (or ability to hold licence after training)
  • Overhead Crane Operator (or ability to hold licence after training)
  • Experience / knowledge of general mechanical or maintenance operations in an industrial environment.
  • Competent in use of basic hand, power tools and cleaning machinery.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (or equivalent) / IT skills.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision (after training).
