Centrax are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced individual to provide an efficient and effective service to the UK/Ireland Customer Support service team. The role requires the postholder to work from both the Newton Abbot offices and on Centrax customer’s sites and primarily consists of hands on scheduled and unscheduled service activities as well as, when not on site, assisting the Country Manager to co-ordinate, plan and supervise all technical aspects of service and maintenance activities to ensure the highest quality of support in accordance with Centrax quality system and maintenance contracts.
As a technical supervisor you must also demonstrate leadership, a willingness to accept responsibility, and the ability to supervise, monitor and develop other engineers. Start date will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment screening.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Carrying out service activities on customer sites
  • Technical co-ordination of planned and unplanned maintenance work
  • Assisting in planning Service Engineer and resource requirements
  • Fault diagnosis and supervision of repairs on all Centrax supplied equipment
  • Communicate technical problem trends to CS Operations
  • Supervision and development of Service Engineers
  • Maintaining good working relationships with customers, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Work within the current quality management system requirements
  • Prepare and delegate work
  • To set a good example at all times to engineers
  • Perform an active role with the Customer On-Call system rota and mobilise to customer sites as required 24/7.
  • Deputise as required for the UK Country Manager
  • To professionally represent Centrax Gas Turbine Division to all external parties.

Essential Skills & Requirements

  • In depth knowledge of Centrax products
  • Annual and intermediate maintenance inspections 501 packages but extending to CX300/400 in the future
  • 501 Engine removal and installation, including calibration, performance tests, emissions testing and subsequent recommendations
  • 501 Engine strip, repair and rebuild to turbine 2nd stage vane level
  • Replacement of any 501’ engine bearing
  • In depth fault diagnosis and repair on any Centrax supplied equipment including CX300/400 in the future
  • Basic fault diagnosis and knowledge on equipment not supplied by Centrax but associated with the CHP installation
  • Vibration survey on engine, gearbox and generator, the analysis of the results, and the recommendation of any corrective action as necessary
  • Complete service reports and timesheets correctly, completely, and in a timely manner
  • Correct use and control of the Centrax stock system and Information and technology systems
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the Centrax Intranet
  • Ability to adequately plan and prepare for allocated tasks both for yourself and for others
  • Main Gearbox removal and refit
  • Resolving outstanding faults
  • Recommend, agree and implement product improvements
  • Understand the differences between various maintenance contracts with particular regard to any performance penalties, and the resulting consequences for both the customer and Centrax so that priorities can be set
  • Understand and implement the Companies' Policies generally and specifically for health & safety, quality, and the environment. Ensure that other Centrax employees and subcontractors work within these policies
