Overview
The Gemelli University Hospital is the largest hospital in Rome, the second largest hospital in Italy and one of the largest private hospitals in Europe. The hospital hosts an estimated 30,000 people every day. Each year the hospital consumes around 50 million kWh of electricity. Its co-generation system provides around 60% of the energy that is needed for electricity, heating and cooling, making it one of the largest infrastructures of this kind in the civil and hospital sectors in Italy.
The aim of the project was to replace an existing generator set of a discontinued manufacturer (maintained by Centrax), with a new CXA05-KB7HE DLE generator set. This modernization of equipment will entitle the facility to claim White Certificate subsidies (for efficient generation of power and heat), whilst ensuring a reliable supply of energy.
