At the end of July 2016, Guy West, Director of Centrax Gas Turbines, retired after 42 years of service to the organisation.
Guy played a significant role in the success of the company; from developing the wave energy device in his early career to the introduction of the 501 engine in the late 1970’s. In recent years, he initiated the Siemens packager agreement and continued to grow the relationship with Siemens Energy, leading to territory and portfolio expansion.
Guy says “I feel honoured to have spent my career working for a unique company that respects people and places a high value on trust, both internally and externally. That’s what makes Centrax special; it’s one of the things people appreciate about us and as a result, we develop long-term relationships with our customers, many of whom we continue to service 30+ years after selling equipment to them”.
The Centrax Board has offered the role of Director to Kevin Steele, who has worked at Centrax for 32 years. He too started as a student apprentice and worked as a manufacturing engineer before becoming a Project Engineer and then Manager of the Projects Department. He has spent the last 15 years heading the Original Equipment function as General Manager, responsible for procurement, assembly, quality and test.
